Paraguay will commemorate National Democracy Day with a large open-air concert in the heart of the capital. The event, titled Serenade to Democracy, will take place on Monday, 2 February 2026. The concert will begin at 19:30 at the esplanade of the National Pantheon of the Heroes. Authorities expect strong public attendance due to the symbolic location and free access.
Open-air concert at a historic landmark
The concert will be held at the National Pantheon of the Heroes, located on Palma and Chile street. This site is one of Paraguay’s most emblematic historical landmarks. The Pantheon’s central location makes it easy for residents and visitors to access. The open-air format also aims to create a shared urban experience.
More than 50 musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra will perform during the evening. The programme combines universal symphonic repertoire with national compositions. Traditional guaranias songs will also be included. The selection reflects both Paraguay’s cultural heritage and its connection to global music traditions.
Serenade to democracy: Blending culture with civic memory
According to organisers, the concert programme was specially designed for the occasion. The repertoire seeks to balance artistic excellence with symbolic meaning. Therefore, music will serve as a tool to honour democratic coexistence. The performance highlights culture as a pillar of public life.
The concert is organised by a joint effort by the Government of Paraguay, the National Secretariat of Culture, and the National Symphony Orchestra. Authorities emphasised that access will be completely free. No tickets or prior registration will be required.
Organisers aim for Serenade to Democracy to become a recurring commemorative event. The invitation is open for citizens of all ages to attend the concert. For organisers, the event will leave a lasting impression. Democracy, they stress, is built through both memory and participation. The evening promises music, reflection, and community spirit.
