The Asunción Times is thrilled to announce the launch of its Writing Competition 2024, a unique opportunity for writers from all backgrounds to showcase their talent and creativity. This competition is designed under the theme of “Show the Best of Asunción to the World,” aiming to discover and celebrate voices that can capture the essence of life in Paraguay’s capital city and beyond. It offers a platform for seasoned writers and newcomers alike to explore and share what makes Asunción special.
Competition Details
Topic: “Favorite place in Asunción”
Participants are invited to submit original works highlighting their favorite Asunción place. This could be a public place, a building, a restaurant, bar, sporting facility – anything that exisits in Asunción, that is your favourite place. The theme encourages a broad interpretation, allowing writers to share their unique stories about the locations that make Asuncion vibrant and special.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to all writers, regardless of nationality or age. Entries must be original and unpublished works written in English.
Submission Guidelines:
Word Count: Minimum 1,000 words; Maximum 2,000 words
Format: Write it the way you like to read it
Language: The article must be written entirely in English.

Prizes
Winners in each category will receive the following prizes:
First Place: Gs. 1,500,000, publication in The Asunción Times, and a feature on our social media platforms.
Second Place: Gs. 1,000,000, publication in The Asunción Times, and a feature on our social media platforms.
Third Place: Gs. 500,000, publication in The Asunción Times, and a feature on our social media platforms.
In addition to the monetary prizes, winning entries will receive recognition in our online editions, as well as the opportunity to be part of a special compilation of the best entries.
