On Friday night was organised a very expressive art exhibition at Club Condesa. Eros y Existancia, or Sexual Desire and Existence in English, showcased the art of one of the owners of the club, Francesco Gallarini. The exhibition, which started at 7:30 PM, was attended by many individuals who like arts, but also passersby curious about what was happening inside.
Sexual Desire and Existence in terms of art often conjures themes of life’s duality: the interplay of desire, creation, passion (Sexual Existence), and the profound contemplation of being, mortality, and meaning (Existence). Artists exploring this duality frequently delve into human emotion, physicality, and the existential questions that define our lives. These pieces of art were drawings and illustrations showing the sexual ability of humans and their place in our existence. The hypersexualised arts question ourselves about the places of love and pleasure in our society. Eros y Existancia invites us to reflect on the dynamic tension between life’s creative force and the existential questions that shape our reality. It was “different” indeed, but also refreshing. It is a taboo subject, especially in a more conservative country like Paraguay, but sometimes sensitive topics need to be highlighted, discussed and expressed to let everyone comprehend it more. In our society, having open discussions about such things is necessary to move forward. Overall, Francesco’s talent was put up front by his great pieces of art.
If you are interested in owning some of these drawings and illustrations, they are very accessible. For those exposed on Friday night, the lowest listed, Stand and Deliver, was at 27 American dollars. The highest listed, such as the Contempt as there were many, was at 72 American dollars. You can contact the club or Francesco if you are interested. During the year, other art exhibitions will be held at Club Condesa. No matter what type of art, you should visit and look at it. What makes the place more unique is the fact that part of the building was the former home of aviator Silvio Pettirossi. It adds a little something, feelings that are barely describable. You should look on their social media for other artistic events. You can also go to the record shop, which sells all types of vinyl, or get a drink at the Condesa, all at the same address and on the same ownership.
Asunción is a city of arts, and it totally worth it of visiting all the galeries or exposition!
