Andrés Gayol, Previous Winner Of InnovandoPY, Shares His Success Story

In 2016, Andrés Gayol made a decision that would change the course of his professional life: to participate in the InnovandoPy program, a government initiative aimed at promoting digital-based startups. What began as a small project, led solely by Gayol and his partner Sebastián García, has become an example of success in the national and international tourism sector.

The initial project was to be a completely digital inbound tourism agency, with an app and a website. However, as Gayol recounts, the 2020 pandemic, which hit the tourism sector hard, also presented them with an unexpected opportunity.

A strategic alliance with a well-known brand’s “Travel to Your Interior” campaign allowed the agency not only to survive, but also to expand. “It was one of our best years. We turned a challenge into an opportunity,” says Gayol.

Over the years, the startup evolved, integrating services such as a ticketing platform called Tuti, and recently relaunched under the Vuela brand. This change not only reflects its expansion into international markets, but also a play on words that highlights its vision of connecting Paraguay with the world. “We want Paraguay to be the most visited tourist destination in Latin America,” Gayol says enthusiastically.

The project has grown significantly: from two people in 2016, they now have a team of over 15 professionals. They have managed large-scale events, such as a congress with over 800 participants, demonstrating their ability to organise memorable tourist experiences. According to Gayol, “tourism is the industry with the greatest multiplier effect on the economy,” and each visit represents a benefit for multiple sectors, from hospitality to local crafts.

Gayol’s experience underlines the transformative impact of programs like InnovandoPy, which not only provide seed capital but also key mentoring for the development of innovative ideas. “Mentoring helped us save time and learn from our mistakes quickly and effectively,” he says.

Gayol’s journey is an inspiring example for entrepreneurs seeking to transform ideas into sustainable projects. Through resilience, vision and a constant commitment to innovation, her story not only enriches Paraguay’s business landscape, but also positions the country as a destination of opportunities.
