The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) released its foreign trade report for the month of October 2024, which shows a surplus of US$57.1 million in the balance between imports and exports.
Total exports reached US$13.66 billion million in October, 4.5% below the figure observed last year. Meanwhile, imports reached US$13.61 billion million, 5.1% higher than the figure recorded in the same period in 2023.
Re-exports, for their part, with 23.4% of the total, registered a value of US$3.19 billion, with an accumulated reduction of 10.2%.
Other exports, with a 6.4% share, recorded a cumulative increase of 14.7%, reaching a level of US$0.88 billion.
According to the Central Bank, the observed reduction in registered exports is mainly explained by lower sales of electric energy, as well as a drop in corn shipments and the fall in the prices of soybean flour and oil. Shipments made under the maquila regime reached US$0.93 billion, 8.0% higher than that recorded in the same period in 2023.
