Paraguay’s music scene has gained international recognition following a major award for Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes. Their album Ndaipóri Frontera (There are no borders) was named Best Album of the Year at the Propya Awards 2026. This marks a significant milestone for the country’s cultural presence abroad.
The achievement was celebrated by the National Tourism Secretariat (SENATUR). SENATUR emphasised the role of music as a key tool in promoting Paraguay’s image internationally. Authorities highlighted how artistic expression can transcend borders and position the country within global cultural circuits.
A collaborative and diverse project
Ndaipóri Frontera stands out for its wide range of collaborations with prominent regional and international artists. Among them are Soledad Pastorutti, Nahuel Pennisi, Rubén Rada, Daniel Maza and Eva Ayllón.
The album also features artists such as La Delio Valdez, Julieta Rada, Ricardo Mollo and Lito Vitale. Moreover, Paraguayan figures include Berta Rojas, Los Ojeda, Dani Meza, Las Paraguayas and Tekovete. For SENATUR, this combination of artists demonstrates how Paraguayan music can integrate different genres and generations while maintaining its identity.
Néstor Ló´s international projection
As part of this growing international presence, Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes are preparing for their first European tour in July. The tour will include performances across several countries. This will offer new audiences the opportunity to experience Paraguayan music while also connecting with Paraguayan communities abroad.
Duarte highlighted that each international performance contributes to strengthening Paraguay’s global image. “Every Paraguayan artist on an international stage becomes a cultural bridge that reinforces our country brand. Music opens doors, sparks curiosity and invites people to discover authentic Paraguay” she said.
Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes as a cultural bridge
Tourism Minister Angie Duarte underscored the importance of the recognition for Néstor Ló and Los Caminantes. She described it as part of a broader moment for Paraguayan music.
“The Paraguayan music scene is experiencing an extraordinary moment, and this award confirms that our culture is not only preserved, it evolves, grows and reaches new frontiers,” she stated.
According to Duarte, the album represents a form of cultural dialogue between Paraguay and the world. Its diversity of styles and influences reflects an integrative artistic vision that connects traditions with contemporary sounds. The recognition of Ndaipóri Frontera by Néstor Ló only celebrates artistic excellence. Also, it signals Paraguay’s expanding presence in the global cultural landscape.
