Discover Paraguay Stays: A Welcoming Way Of Hosting Paraguay For The World

When Muna Annahas speaks about hospitality, she does so from experience rather than theory. The Paraguayan entrepreneur has travelled around the world, visiting more than 45 countries. That global journey shaped her understanding of what travellers truly need when arriving at a new destination. This understanding would become the foundation of Paraguay Stays: a company offering temporary accommodation that meets international expectations, while remaining deeply connected to local identity.

“Knowing what a guest expects comes naturally when you have been one yourself”, Muna starts explaining. “I have experienced every possible type of accommodation around the world. Paraguay Stays was built from that perspective.”

Paraguay Stays’ beginnings

Muna Annahas, CEO of Paraguay Stays

Muna entered the short-term rental business in 2018. Around that time, temporary rentals and platforms such as Airbnb were still largely unfamiliar in Paraguay.  This unfamiliarity led Muna to purchase her first apartment, and adapt it to a market that had yet to adapt to international hosting standards.

“At that time, short-term rentals were almost non-existent in the country”, she recalls. “I saw room for innovation and decided to take the risk. We were among the first to work seriously with Airbnb in the country.”

That early decision placed Paraguay Stays at the forefront of a sector that would later expand rapidly. Particularly, after the pandemic, that reshaped travel and remote work worldwide.

Building Paraguay Stays from global experience

As mentioned, Paraguay Stays emerged directly from her experience of travelling around the world. The concept was clear from the beginning: offer temporary accommodation that met international expectations, while remaining connected to local identity.

Foreign professionals, corporate travellers, and tourists arriving in Paraguay often struggled to find fully equipped, reliable and secure places to stay. Paraguay Stays sought to fill that gap by combining hotel-level organisation with the comfort of a private home. Each property is designed with functionality in mind, from fully equipped kitchens and in-unit laundry facilities. The goal is not simply to provide a place to sleep, but to ensure a seamless experience from check-in to check-out.

Educating the market, and surviving a pandemic

Being a pioneer came with challenges. In 2018, few people understood the dynamics of short-term rentals. Also, trust in digital platforms was still limited, Muna remembers. Then came the pandemic.

“Many owners moved back to traditional long-term rentals. But we decided to stay with the model and adapt. And it worked! We educated the market, built trust, and demonstrated that this model was safe and beneficial. Seeing how the sector has grown today is very rewarding.”

Paraguay Stays catered to professionals who needed safe, comfortable access spaces to work remotely. Enhanced cleaning protocols, streamlined digital communication and operational flexibility. This allowed the company to not only survive, but grow. Today, Paraguay Stays manages over a dozen apartments in Asunción, along with a house in San Bernardino.

From solo travellers to families and groups, all year round

Paraguay Stays’ portfolio ranges from fully equipped studio apartments to spacious three-bedroom units with four bathrooms. Including properties located in Petra Tower, the tallest building in Paraguay. This diversity allows Paraguay Stays to host solo travellers, couples, families, corporate groups and digital nomads alike.

Demand concentrates mainly in Asunción neighbourhoods such as Villa Morra and around shopping zones and centres. Amenities such as swimming pools, gyms and private parking consistently rank among the most requested features.

While Paraguay’s capital maintains steady demand throughout the year, the near city of San Bernandino peaks during the summer months. “But thanks to the good reviews, we have bookings all year round on weekends”, adds Muna.

More than accommodation

Paraguay Stays positions itself as more than a rental service. “We offer recommendations for restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and tourist attractions near your accommodation. Furthermore, we are creating a guide to activities and events in Asunción that will be available soon.”

Direct booking complement platform-based reservations, offering guests exclusive benefits such as loyalty programmes. Also, complementary nights, personalised surprises and flexible payment options. Long-term stays can be arranged through private contracts, removing the need for guarantors by offering alternative security structures.

“This provides security and ease for travellers who are renting temporarily in Paraguay”, Muna clarifies.

Looking ahead

However, Muna affirms that Paraguay Stays does not remain steady, nor will it ever be. Regarding the future: “We are looking forward to expanding to other cities, and increasing family and corporate offering. Also, create integrated tourism experiences, and a loyalty program with many surprises.”

She also mentions that Paraguay Stays works with tourism authorities and participate in tourism initiatives. This in order to position Paraguay as a safe, attractive destination for international visitors.

Paraguay Stays: A different way of staying

Paraguay Stays reflects a broader shift in how Paraguay presents itself to the world. By blending global standards with local warmth, the company mirrors a country increasingly connected to international mobility, remote work and experiential travel.

For Muna, the formula remains simple: good experience, adaptability and attention to detail. “We offer quality, safety and an authentic experience in Paraguay. Because we do not jusr rent spaces, we create experiences.”
