The countdown is on: more than 1,600 young athletes from 12 nations will flood into Asunción from 30 November to 7 December 2025 as Paraguay hosts the 29th South American School Games, the largest youth sports event in the region. For eight days, the SND Sports Complex and the Paraguayan Olympic Park will be filled with energy, competition, and continental pride.
The opening ceremony on 1 December 2025 at 19:00 in the Ueno SND Arena will attract thousands, with national delegations marching in as the capital welcomes the next generation of South American talent.
A major regional event returns home
This year marks the first return of the Games to Paraguay since 2022. Expectations are high, as the 2025 edition promises fast-paced fixtures, packed stands, and an atmosphere fuelled by school spirit across the continent.
Organised under CONSUDE, the event showcases emerging athletes in what many see as the first major stepping stone towards elite sport.
Paraguay TV to deliver complete coverage
Paraguay TV boosts visibility by becoming the official broadcaster after securing full transmission rights through an agreement with the National Sports Secretariat (SND). The announcement came during a coordination meeting between the JSE Asunción 2025 General Committee and MITIC.
The result: every match, every heat, every medal moment will be broadcast free-to-air, ensuring families across the country — and abroad — never miss a second.
“We want fans, especially athletes’ families, to watch every event,” said Guido Zelada, General Coordinator of JSE Asunción 2025.
A broadcast that brings families closer
For many young competitors, this is their first time representing their country on an international stage. Paraguay TV’s nationwide signal allows supporters in every corner of the country to follow their children, siblings, classmates, and teammates as they compete for regional glory.
Cristina Martínez, Director of Paraguay TV, emphasised the pride behind the partnership: “Broadcasting a sporting event adds prestige, but in this case we also want to help position the Games — and Paraguay — while highlighting a category that marks the beginning of every athlete’s path to high-performance sport.”
