Inspired by vision and passion, Accelerating Bitcoin 2025 – Paraguay’s first Bitcoin-Only event – opened on 15 September in Asunción. The event, running for two days until 16 September, is held at Paseo La Galería in Asunción. The conference brings together leaders, entrepreneurs, enthusiasts, and crypto influencers to discuss the future of Bitcoin in Latin America. They share information, network, and explore Paraguay’s prospects in cryptocurrency mining.
The initial sentence at the inauguration caught everyone’s attention: This small node in the South already represents 3.5% of global Bitcoin hashrate, referring to Paraguay as absolute energy powerhouse. Bitcoin hashrate is the total computing power miners use to process transactions and secure the Bitcoin network. With only seven million people living in Paraguay, and banking coverage up to 70%, the country aims for rapid growth. It acts, it moves forward, it is free, secure, and fast, continued the message, dreaming of Paraguay as the financial and mining hub of the continent.
Accelerating Bitcoin 2025: Two days, one purpose

The conference in Paseo La Galería has two main spaces: the Nakamoto Hall and the Cyberpunk Hall, where conferences, panels, and workshops are happening simultaneously. Sessions occur in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, and are supported by live interpreting so that visitors never have to miss out on important discussions. The goal is clear: gather experts, investors, and innovators under a single roof to establish Paraguay’s position in the global Bitcoin community.
For most attendees, the conference marks their first trip to Paraguay, providing unique chances for collaboration and cultural exchange. They strolled between stands, encountered entrepreneurs, and learned about business opportunities in a setting that brought together technology, education, and community.
Accelerating Bitcoin 2025 is more than a conference; the event plans to turn Paraguay into a hub of financial and technological innovation.
Why Paraguay?
Paraguay, according to the general consensus among conference attendees, is the ideal location for cryptocurrency mining and technological advancement. Paraguay boasts ample hydroelectricity from the Itaipú and Yacyretá dams, along with access to clean, green energy. Macroeconomic stability, low taxation, and an encouraging environment for investment build its image as a safe and profitable business centre.
“Paraguay has 980 megawatts contracted with legally organised crypto-mining firms currently,” Hugo Rolón, National Electricity Administration’s (ANDE) Chief Commercial Officer, explained. “We will expand the capacity and make surplus energy an engine for industrial and economic development,” he spoke enthusiastically. Paraguay does not consider Bitcoin mining as risky, but as a way to boost industry alongside promoting technological progress.
Government’s commitment to support
Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Marco Riquelme attended to confirm the government’s commitment to support this technological revolution.
Riquelme glowed with pride to have Paraguay hosting: “It is an honour to welcome so many newcomers to our country today,” he said. Paraguay, he continued, is magical, noting that tourists are eager to come back after they experience first-hand its culture and potential. “This will not be the last time you come,” Riquelme promised, referring to Paraguay’s growing appeal for investors and entrepreneurs alike.
TheParaguayan government sees Accelerating Bitcoin 2025 as a venue to establish Paraguay as an international events and technology investment hub. “The model of cryptocurrency mining is already established here,” Riquelme said. “We want to utilise our clean energy to welcome companies with jobs, innovation, and industrial growth coming to Paraguay,” he firmly concluded.

Freedom, education, and community
Organisers Bruno Vacotti and Lorena Almada referred to Bitcoin’s connections to sovereignty, freedom, and Paraguayan identity. “Bitcoin is liberty and sovereignty,” Vacotti stated, linking the technology to the heritage and values of the nation. The organisers see the use of Bitcoin as an economic driver and as a way towards independence for common citizens.
Almada remembered that five years ago, it was difficult to find Paraguayans even familiar with Bitcoin or its potential impact. Today, schools like Uruguay’s Escuelita Bitcoin and Penguin Academy teach students coding and the basics of cryptocurrency, creating technical skills across the region. Education, they argued, results in future generations being taught about digital finance rather than fearing its complexity or unpredictability.
Vacotti emphasised the value of collaboration: the private sector, the government, and civil society. “Nobody does it by themselves,” he repeated, citing partnerships between business, education, and policymaking constituencies for efficient Bitcoin adoption.
A growing ecosystem, and a bold vision
Besides speeches and workshops, companies displayed crypto-mining hardware and services, like X4T, Paraguay’s First licensed crypto exchange. Schools and foundations that educate people about financial literacy, to inform communities on the use of Bitcoin’s benefits and risks, are also there. The convention thus combines business growth with public education, refining a holistic, integrative approach to cryptocurrency adoption.
In the end, Accelerating Bitcoin 2025 is a Paraguayan milestone towards Latin America’s cryptocurrency future. With clean energy, economic resilience, and commitment to freedom, Paraguay has the potential to lead regional innovation.
