National Symphony Orchestra Enchants With Free Concert In Asunción

The National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) of Paraguay will captivate audiences with its fifth concert of the acclaimed 2025 international season. It is titled Kerapoty, a poetic Guaraní term meaning “daydream” or “enchantment”. This special performance will take place on Thursday, 26 June, at 8:00 PM at the Ignacio A. Pane Municipal Theatre in Asunción. Admission is free, offering the public an opportunity to enjoy an evening of world-class music.

A maestro at the helm

The concert will be conducted by Paraguayan maestro Ernesto Estigarribia Mussi, celebrated for his energetic artistry and commitment to musical excellence. Internationally recognised for his work with orchestras across the Americas, Estigarribia currently serves as Music Director of both the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and the Mankato Symphony Orchestra in the United States. Estigarribia Mussi is admired for his emotionally resonant interpretations and for promoting Latin American composers on the global stage.

Sabrina Tabby: a violinist of global reach

Featured as guest soloist will be American violinist Sabrina Tabby, known for her expressive playing and impressive technical command, which have earned her praise across Europe and the Americas. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Tabby is also an advocate for musical exchange, working as a chamber musician and educator.

Her participation in Kerapoty highlights the cultural partnership with Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, where she contributes to a promising exchange programme with Paraguay, alongside a group of gifted musicians.

The National Symphony Orchestra’s repertoire

The evening’s programme includes:

  • Ka’aguype (“In the Forest”) by Florentín Giménez,
  • Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (“The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires”) by Astor Piazzolla, and
  • Symphonie Fantastique (“Fantastic Symphony”) by Hector Berlioz.

This emotionally rich repertoire blends Paraguayan, Latin American, and European musical traditions, offering a journey through soundscapes of nature, urban life, and imagination.

Kerapoty by the National Symphony Orchestra promises to be an unforgettable symphonic experience, celebrating cultural dialogue, artistic diversity, and musical excellence. Earlier this year the National Symphony Orchestra paid tribute to Florentín Giménez in Ybycuí.
