Paraguay And Morocco Reinforce Strategic Alliance With New Cooperation Roadmap

Foreign ministers of Paraguay and Morocco have officially reaffirmed the strategic alliance between their two nations. Both countries signed a joint agreement that aims to boost collaboration across key development sectors. The new accord highlights shared priorities such as renewable energy, tourism, logistics, agriculture, air transport, and security.

A central outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Roadmap 2025-2028, a structured plan designed to accelerate the implementation of bilateral projects and strengthen long-term cooperation.

Strengthening diplomatic and economic ties

During his official visit to Morocco, Paraguayan Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano met with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad. The meeting served to reaffirm both nations’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. The ministers expressed mutual respect and recognition for each country’s political and economic progress.

Minister Bourita conveyed Morocco’s gratitude for Paraguay’s consistent support regarding Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Sahara. He also praised Paraguay’s development and emphasised the importance of enhancing trade relations to position Morocco as a strategic ally in the South Atlantic region.

Both ministers further agreed to reinforce relations between Morocco and Mercosur, with Paraguay pledging to promote stronger cooperation between the North African nation and the South American trade bloc.

A renewed commitment to shared development

Minister Ramírez reaffirmed Paraguay’s support for Morocco’s autonomy initiative, describing it as the only credible and realistic solution to the regional Sahara issue. He also announced that Paraguay is considering opening a Consulate General in Dakhla, a move that would further solidify diplomatic and economic connections.

The visit reflects Paraguay’s broader diplomatic efforts to diversify partnerships and expand global cooperation. As both nations look toward 2028, the reinforced alliance promises new opportunities for mutual growth, dialogue, and collaboration between South America and North Africa.
