Easter 2026 brought a significant economic boost to Paraguay’s domestic tourism, generating over US$55 million thanks to the movement of nearly half a million visitors across the country. Hotels reported an impressive 90% occupancy rate, highlighting the strong rebound in domestic tourism.
Paraguay’s National Tourism Secretariat (SENATUR), through its Tourism Observatory, released figures showing that domestic tourist activity during Easter 2026 generated total revenues of US$55,484,961. This represents a 36% increase compared to the US$40.6 million recorded in 2025.
The number of travellers between 1 and 5 April also rose, with 409,431 people moving across the country. This marks a 15% increase from 355,322 visitors last year. Hotel occupancy followed suit, reaching an average of 90% nationwide, 12% higher than in 2025. Traffic data indicated that 323,656 vehicles, including cars and vans, travelled the nation’s roads, surpassing 289,892 in the previous year.
Top events and destinations

Several cultural and religious events drew large crowds. The traditional Tañarandy procession welcomed around 30,000 attendees, while Atyrá’s Way of the Cross attracted 5,000 visitors. Kurusú Rape Rendy in Altos hosted 10,000 participants, and the Passion of Christ in Caacupé saw 2,000 people. Other highlights included Ta’anga Oikoveva in Valenzuela (1,000 visitors), Kurusú Rape in Ciudad del Este (2,217 attendees), Kurusú Cerro in Yaguarón (15,000 people), and Kurusú Rape in Villa Elisa (5,000 visitors).
The Itaipú Tourist Complex received 15,423 visitors, while the Yacyretá Binational Entity recorded 5,115 entrants. The Jesuit Missions in Itapúa welcomed 3,961 visitors, including 1,888 to La Santísima Trinidad del Paraná, 963 to San Cosme and San Damián, and 1,110 to Jesús de Tavarangue.
Nature and cultural destinations remained popular, with 3,070 visitors exploring natural sites and 10,925 people enjoying cultural experiences nationwide. Data on inbound tourism, including foreign visitors, is still being updated. These figures underline the growing importance of Paraguay’s domestic tourism, showcasing its potential to support the economy while promoting the country’s cultural and natural heritage.
