Paraguay’s animal-origin exports achieved record revenue in 2025, despite lower shipment volumes. Data from the National Animal Health and Quality Service (SENACSA) confirms income rose by 10.24% during 2025. Export volumes, however, fell by 11.98% across international markets. In total, Paraguay exported 688,330,645 kilogrammes of animal products in 2025. Combined export value reached approximately US$2.69 billion. Officials view the figures as evidence of resilience within the sector.
Pork sector drives growth
The pork sector delivered one of the strongest performances of the year. Export volumes increased by 54% compared with 2024. Revenue reached US$55.8 million, representing growth of 66.8%. Taiwan remained the main destination market for Paraguayan pork. Producers credit stable demand and improved logistics for the expansion.
This momentum strengthens confidence across the wider livestock industry. Many small producers also benefit from higher processing demand. As a result, regional employment shows signs of stability. Investment in cold storage and transport continues to grow. These improvements support long-term export capacity.
Beef prices lift revenue
The beef industry also posted impressive financial results. Shipment volumes grew only 0.78% over the past twelve months. Export revenue, however, climbed almost 20%. Total earnings reached a historic US$2.13 billion. Higher prices from the United States and Taiwan supported income levels.
Chile remained the primary destination market during the year. Meanwhile, premium buyers strengthened Paraguay’s price positioning. Exporters focus increasingly on traceability and quality assurance. These standards improve access to demanding markets.
Poultry pressures and outlook
The poultry sector faced a challenging year. Export volumes declined by 31% across key destinations. Revenues fell by 36%, reflecting weaker demand and higher costs. This downturn reduced overall animal-product export volumes.
Trade analysts highlight the growing importance of premium markets. Consumers increasingly demand certified quality and consistent supply. These trends favour exporters able to meet strict standards. Overall, Paraguay positions itself as a reliable regional supplier. Market diversification remains a priority for sustained growth. In the meantime, producers continue investing in quality, traceability, and efficiency.
