Join The Circular Economy Webinar: Exploring Opportunities For Sustainable Consumption

People interested in sustainable consumption and the principles of the circular economy may attend a free online webinar on Friday, 6 June. The webinar will be of particular interest to consumer protection agencies, environmental organisations, and entities committed to sustainable development in Paraguay.

The circular economy webinar will feature international experts discussing its benefits and opportunities from a consumer’s perspective. Topics will include sustainable consumption practices, the importance of recycling, and how consumers can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Event details and format

Organised by Sedeco under the Ibero-American Forum of Governmental Consumer Protection Agencies (FIAGC), the event will introduce participants to environmentally responsible practices and will feature international speakers from across Latin America and Europe.

Delivered in Spanish, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM via a Microsoft Teams meeting, the online session aims to familiarise participants with the principles of the circular economy, a sustainable model that focuses on reducing waste, reusing resources, and promoting environmental responsibility.

Notable speakers include Claudia Rodríguez, Director General for Consumer Affairs in Spain, Carlos Salazar from Chile’s National Consumer Service, and Rossana Bautista, a sector representative from Peru.

What to expect from the circular economy webinar

The session will begin with opening remarks by María Carolina Ramírez, Superintendent of Industry and Commerce of Colombia, followed by a presentation from Sara Irún, Head of Sedeco.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the CPC Network’s overview on “the sale of second-hand and refurbished goods: procedure and conclusions.” After that, the second session will address the topic “Green promises, grey realities: what lies behind greenwashing and green claims”. The final session will cover “a guide to environmental advertising.”

Taking part in the circular economy webinar offers professionals, organisations, and consumers the chance to stay informed about global trends in sustainable consumption and contribute to building a more environmentally conscious society. Through this educational event, Sedeco aims to promote responsible practices in relation to the consumption of goods and services.

As with its recent initiative the Educational Fair for World Consumer Rights Day, Sedeco continues to strengthen its role in promoting consumer awareness and responsible consumption at both national and regional levels.
