This is the estimate of the national director of Migration, Jorge Kronawetter, when speaking about the expectations generated by the great sporting event, announced for November 23 in Asunción.
He said that he bases his projection on the experience of the first final of the Sudamericana that took place in Asunción in 2019, when more than 40,000 people entered the country to watch the match between Colon de Santa Fe of Argentina and Independiente del Valle of Ecuador.
He explained that the teams that will compete in the final – Cruzeiro and Racing – both come from neighbouring countries and the expectation is that the number of people entering the country will be at least 60,000 or even double the number from 2019.
He stressed that there is a very important coordination both internally and with institutions in neighbouring countries to facilitate the agility of the entry of visitors at immigration points.
With Brazil, there are entry points in the cities of Saltos del Guairá, Pedro Juan Caballero and Ciudad del Este, while with Argentina the entry and exit points are Puerto Falcon and Encarnación.
Based on the coordination, he announced that people who are prohibited from attending sporting events in both Brazil and Argentina will not be able to enter Paraguay and will no longer be admitted at immigration points.
He also stressed that the match to be played this Thursday between the Paraguay and Argentina national teams will be a good exercise to test ourselves, because the final of the Sudamericana is the one that will move the most people.
