Bioceanic Road Corridor

Participant Countries Reaffirm Commitment To The New Bioceanic Road Corridor

Representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay held a meeting on November 19 and 20 in Asunción to consolidate the strategic project of continental integration. This meeting was described by a spokesperson as “marking a turning point in the planning of the Bioceanic Road Corridor” (CBV), an initiative that promises to transform South American connectivity.

The participants addressed key aspects for the development of the corridor and established working groups specialising in public works, logistics, transportation, production and simplification of border procedures.

The central objective is to complete the road works scheduled for 2026, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through an infrastructure that transcends the simple construction of roads.

One of the most ambitious complementary projects includes the construction of a gas pipeline from Vaca Muerta, which will cross the Paraguayan Chaco to Brazil, along with a fiber optic cable that will substantially improve regional digital connectivity. These initiatives seek to enhance not only road infrastructure, but also energy and technological integration.

Bioceanic Road Corridor: A comprehensive project to transform the region

The national coordinators highlighted the importance of this project as the largest infrastructure project for the physical, economic and sociocultural integration of the region.

The Bioceanic Road Corridor project proposes a comprehensive vision that goes beyond connectivity, seeking to create new opportunities for development, trade and investment attraction in the territories linked to the corridor.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) presented progress on non-reimbursable cooperation to develop a Regional Master Plan for Integration and Development. At the same time, studies were shared on cross-border processes, trade facilitation and improvements in international transport.

The meeting consolidated a multilateral commitment to promote a project that promises to transform South American integration, generating new prospects for economic growth and regional cooperation in the coming years.
