The President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, highlighted the “bravery” of the business sector and encouraged them to continue investing to become a prosperous, developed nation that provides jobs for its workers. “We have all the conditions to achieve this,” he said.
This was stated by Peña on Monday during the inauguration of a new L’acerie plant in Mariano Roque Alonso, equipped with the most advanced technology, which will allow the company to maintain its focus on innovation and sustainable production. This new production center will not only generate employment in the region, but will also support Paraguay’s economic growth.
During his speech, the president highlighted the commitment that the business sector continues to make in the country. “Thanks to the perseverance of entrepreneurs, today this giant that we want to re-emerge, this Paraguay, is increasingly closer to us,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to the founders of the L’acerie firm for planning an industry that will endure over time. “I am convinced that we are living through a very important moment in our history,” he said.
The president urged not to lose the ambition to improve the economic and social conditions of the nation. He also called for joint work between the public and private sectors to “forge the destiny of greatness for the country”.
“We want towers to be built in Paraguay with Paraguayan labor, we want barges to be built with Paraguayan labor, we want steel to be forged with Paraguayan labor, because if we are convinced that Paraguay is making firm steps, we will build that together with all Paraguayans,” he said.
The Head of State reiterated that Paraguay has absolutely everything it needs to be a prosperous, developed nation that provides jobs for its workers, “because if we were able to reach investment grade, there is nothing we cannot achieve,” he said.
In this same sense, he called for combining the “boldness and bravery of Paraguayan businesspeople with the entrepreneurial gene” in order to improve the conditions of Paraguayan men and women.
He emphasised that today Paraguay has much firmer foundations than 35 to 40 years ago, which is why he urged the country to be ambitious in order to continue growing and developing.
“From the Government and all State institutions, you should know that we are committed to Paraguay and to Paraguayans, that we will continue to take measures with courage and determination so that the best social policy, which is the creation of jobs, is the main source of wealth for all Paraguayan families, that jobs multiply and that prosperity is a path for a country that wants peace, stability and development. We are convinced that the resurgence of a giant is within our reach and that it depends only on us to continue growing and developing,” he concluded.
