On Monday, November 18, starting at 7:00 p.m., a pedestrian area in Amambay will be opened from Carlos Antonio López Avenue, 14 de Mayo, to Teniente Herrero and Pedro Juan Caballero Square, which has been decorated with hundreds of lights and Christmas figures. The walk ends at the emblematic square in the center of the city, where every night there will be background music of Christmas carols.
Every weekend in December, concerts by renowned Paraguayan musicians will be held at this location, accompanied by local musicians, on a stage set up on the esplanade of the headquarters of the Government. Among the artists will be the group Paiko, Francisco Russo, Contrapunto, Grupo Cumbre Bohemia, among others.
The Governorate made agreements with local companies that donated the lights and the set-up, constituting zero cost for the Governorate and the taxpayers. Access to the shows is free and open to the public.
The director of communication for the Governorate, Ronny Valdez, said that Governor Juancho Acosta wants to promote citizen coexistence and that families can meet in a pleasant environment with a Christmas spirit. The walk will be open from Monday to Monday until January 6, 2025.
Chemical toilets and garbage bins have been installed, and coverage by the National Police and officials from the Governorate who will act as tourist guides for visitors is guaranteed. Likewise, raffles are planned for prizes donated by the sponsors, local companies that promote tourism in the capital of the Amambay department.
