Pool House stands out in Asunción as a venue that was never meant to be just a bar. From the outset, it was conceived as a place where people actively participate in billiards, sing, and interact.
“We are not conventional,” explains co-owner Pedro Bogado. “We sell entertainment, and we sell experiences.” That vision continues to define Pool House today, turning each visit into something dynamic, social, and deliberately different from the traditional night out.
From professional pool to a personal venture
Pool House was founded by Pedro Bogado, widely known in the billiards scene as Dr. Pool, because of his degree as a Doctor and being a professional pool player since the age of 15. Together with his brother, he opened Pool House in 2023 as a natural extension of his sporting career.
“It started as something small. I already had a group of players who followed my trajectory.” That initial community became the foundation of the venue, which then grew steadily through word of mouth and social media. What began purely as a pool hall gradually evolved, shaped by its audience and their expectations.
In its early days, Pool House functioned solely as a billiards venue. Over time, however, guests began asking for more. “We noticed there was a front area that was not being used. And people were asking for something different.” That space was later transformed into a karaoke area, marking a turning point in the venue’s identity.
“The place grew into a karaoke bar. Now you can come to play pool or enjoy karaoke, or both.” The transition happened organically, allowing Pool House to expand without losing its original essence.

Three different environments
Today, Pool House is organised into three clearly defined areas, each with its own rhythm. At the front, the karaoke zone sets a lively and energetic tone. The middle section functions as an open-air smoking area, offering a brief pause between activities. At the back lies a calmer pool area designed for players who want to focus on the game.
“Each space has different music. When karaoke starts, it is only heard in that sector.” Meanwhile, the pool area remains more relaxed, making it suitable for groups of friends or families looking to enjoy the game without distraction.
A bar without fixed prices
One of Pool House’s most distinctive features is its approach to pricing food and drinks. Instead of a traditional menu, the venue operates with what Bogado calls a price exchange. Inspired by the stock market, prices fluctuate live. “Some products go down, others stay stable, and some go up,” he explains.

These changes are displayed on a screen inside the bar, responding to demand and stock levels in real time. “People have fun with it. Usually, they order what is going down.” Recently introduced in Europe, the system is still uncommon in Paraguay.
While the menu concept is innovative, pricing for renting the space remains straightforward. Pool tables are rented at a fixed rate of Gs. 50,000 (approximately US$7) per hour per table, regardless of whether two or four players are using it. Karaoke, by contrast, is offered free of charge. “The karaoke area is something we offer as part of the experience.” Reinforcing the idea that entertainment is central to the venue. This balance allows guests to shape their night freely, combining paid play with complimentary experiences.
Comfort food and a broad drinks selection
Behind the fluctuating prices, Pool House offers a solid and familiar menu. The kitchen serves burgers, pizzas, chips, quesadillas with beef or chicken, and kebabs. “Chips are what sell the most,” Bogado admits. The bar complements the offering with an extensive drinks list, featuring up to 22 different cocktails and beers, with draught beer among the most popular choices.
Consistency and a family-friendly spirit
Between 5 pm and 8 pm, Bogado also gives pool lessons, sometimes to fathers and sons together. “We often have parents and children sharing a different moment. I have students who are 11 or 13 years old with their parents. It is a different way of sharing.”

Staff continuity is another defining element. “The employees we have today are the same ones from when we opened,” Bogado says. “The same waiters, the same cook.” This stability has built trust among regulars, some of whom now visit exclusively for the food, confident in its consistency.
At its core, Pool House reflects the personality of its founder. “I managed to bring together two things I really love,” Jogado says, referring to pool and karaoke. The result is a venue that feels lived-in, participatory and constantly evolving, inviting Asunción not just to visit, but to take part.
Throughout the year, Pool House hosts private and corporate events, with particularly high demand during the end-of-year season. Companies often opt for per-person packages that include specific menus and open taps, while promotions also appear on key dates such as Labour Day.
