The grand opening concert will take place this Sunday, 20 July, at the esteemed Ignacio A. Pane Municipal Theatre. Over 50 gifted artists will come together for a breathtaking performance of J. S. Bach’s masterpiece, “St. John Passion, BWV 245.” Leading the orchestra will be the festival’s Artistic Director, Diego Sánchez Haase.

A feast of musical delights awaits

The South American Bach Festival promises a vibrant tapestry of over twenty musical events. Alongside masterclasses, workshops, and lectures, there will be a special discussion forum. This year’s programme features exciting fusions of Bach with jazz and guarania (traditional Paraguayan music). Look forward to symphonic and baroque concerts, thought-provoking debates on Bach and artificial intelligence, engaging children’s workshops, and heartfelt interpretations and tributes to the composer’s enduring legacy.

The South American Bach Festival is proud to welcome renowned international artists. They will share the stage with esteemed local groups such as the National Congress Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Collegium of Asunción, the Sonidos de Paraqvaria Ensemble, and the Paraguay Barroco Ensemble. Last month, the National Symphony Orchestra enchanted Asunción with a free concert.
