The Paraguayan Government has created a new “Commission for the Organisation of Major Sporting Events” via decree No. 3,449/25, made up of representatives from some 15 state institutions.
The commission’s functions will include planning, coordinating, and supervising all necessary actions for the organisation of sporting events, providing the necessary resources and means, and proposing strategies to position Paraguay as a host city for sporting events, among other things.
The president of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP), Camilo Pérez, announced that the new commission will have Víctor Pecci as general coordinator and Larissa Schaerer as deputy general coordinator.
This team is being formed to manage the organisation of upcoming major sporting events to be held in Paraguay.
From August 9 to 23, Paraguay will host the Junior Pan American Games, an event expected to attract more than 4,200 athletes from 41 countries across the Americas and invited guests. Then, from August 28 to 31, the department of Itapúa will host the first round of the Paraguayan World Rally Championship, where some 250,000 visitors are expected.
In addition, it has already been confirmed that the World Skate Games will be held in the first half of October 2026, with around 10,000 participating athletes, and Paraguay has formalized its bids to host the 2030 Youth Olympic Games and the 2031 Pan American Games.
