Bus detours in Asuncion

Bus detours due to construction work on Mariscal López Avenue could last about 30 days

During the first stage of rehabilitation work on Avenida Mariscal López, which will last 30 days, bus detours will be implemented on public transport lines 56, 18, 26, 12 and 43.

The road rehabilitation works on Avenida Mariscal López, between Avenida Madame Lynch and the Yberá intersection, will “allow for a significant improvement in the infrastructure, optimising traffic and offering greater safety for all users of this busy road”, according to a government spokesperson..

During the first phase of work, which will last 30 days, detours will be implemented on public transport lines 56, 18, 26, 12 and 43.

In order to mitigate traffic complications, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications opened 16.4 kilometers of alternative routes, both paved and cobbled, and reinforced the presence of the Highway Patrol and the Municipal Traffic Police.

As a result, buses entering Asunción will change their route, following alternative routes that include Avda. Eugenio A. Garay, Virgen del Rosario, 5 de Septiembre and returning to Avda. Mariscal López.

The MOPC requests the understanding of transport users and drivers in general during the development of the works, since these will contribute to substantially improving their movement once completed.

As the various work fronts are developed, the corresponding detour plan will be publicised, allowing citizens to plan their trips in advance and with predictability.

Citizens are also urged to pay attention to signs and follow the instructions of traffic officers, thus ensuring smoother and safer traffic for everyone.
