800 Applicants At First Mobile Migration Service Event Of 2026 In Ciudad Del Este

Paraguay’s National Directorate of Migration has reported that approximately 800 individuals have initiated residency applications at the first mobile migration service event of the year in Ciudad del Este. The event was held at the Mangoré Cultural Centre. During this period, a dedicated mobile team accepted a wide range of applications.

These include requests for temporary and permanent residency, as well as extensions, renewals, and replacements of identification cards. The significant turnout recorded highlighted a sustained increase in the demand for migration documentation. It also underscored the importance of the itinerant programme in bringing institutional services closer to foreign communities.

Comprehensive services on site

The MigraMóvil (Mobile Migration) programme is designed to streamline procedures by having a full document verification team present at the location. This approach allows for a more efficient and accessible process for the regularisation of foreign nationals in Paraguay and the documentation of new migrants. Through this travelling framework, mobile units provide comprehensive assistance with the reception, processing, and delivery of migration documents.

Available services include applications for temporary and permanent residency, residency extensions, and the replacement and renewal of cards. Furthermore, individuals can request certificates of residence, extensions of stay, and spontaneous or occasional residency status. The team also handles application cancellations and provides records of migratory movements, although some of these processes are finalised later at the central office.

A year-long strategic programme

The schedule for the MigraMóvil programme includes events planned throughout the year, strategically distributed across four quarters. This agenda is, however, subject to potential adjustments in dates and venues, depending on the availability of spaces and the operational conditions of the mobile teams. The long-term planning enables migrants to prepare their necessary documentation well in advance of applying for residency or other procedures.

This first event of 2026 in Ciudad del Este marks the beginning of a calendar that will combine both regular and reduced service models in various locations across the country. The overarching objective of the programme is to expand, decentralise, and accelerate migration services, ensuring an efficient and accessible system for all applicants.
