Paraguay’s Gastronomy School: 100 New Professionals Trained In The Culinary Arts

Paraguay’s National Professional Promotion Service (SNPP) held the closing ceremony of the Gastronomy School. One hundred participants successfully completed various vocational training courses of the school teaching culinary arts. In Modular Professional Pastry, 15 students completed the programme. Additionally, 15 participants concluded the Modular Professional Bakery Programme, and 70 participants received the certificate of completion for other courses at the Gastronomy School.

In 2024, the Gastronomy School was also offering programmes in different regions of Paraguay. Apart from the Asunción Metropolitan Area, courses were offered in the Paraguayan cities of Ciudad del Este, Villarrica, and other cities.

SNPP’s Gastronomy School vocation

The SNPP is a public institution under the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security. This institution is responsible for providing vocational and technical training to workers to improve their skills and employability. Thus, contributing to the country’s development. The SNPP offers courses in a variety of areas, from basic training to skills certification and free occupational certifications.

The SNPP’s Gastronomy School promotes the advancement of technical skills in the most relevant fields of the sector. The SNPP and Gastronomy School main commitment is to train skilled workforce and promoting learning opportunities. The aim is to boost employability and the growth of the national gastronomy sector. The main sectors include cooking, pastry making, confectionery, bakery, services, and gastronomic administration. This contributes to the professionalisation of the sector and strengthens employment in the country.

Modular curriculum

In 2025, the Gastronomy School established modular curriculum in two fields; bakery and pastry. The Modular Professional Bakery and Modular Professional Pastry aim at providing comprehensive and practical training. The objective of this educational programme is to train highly specialised professionals capable of responding to the demands of the gastronomy sector. The programme is adding value to the industry through innovation and technical excellence.

Throughout the process, participants improved their skills in various theoretical and practical modules. The Gastronomy School students also completed their training with internships in companies in the sector. These opportunities allowed them to be better prepared to enter the job market.

Paraguayan gastronomy

Paraguay gastronomy is recognised worldwide. In September 2025, the country showcased its culinary heritage in France. Paraguay was present at the Paris Gastronomy Festival 2025; an international food fair held near the Eiffel Tower. Nationwide, the National Postal Service of Paraguay (Dinacopa) and the National Tourism Secretariat (Senatur) presented postage stamps related to gastronomy. They presented 9,000 units of new postage stamps called “Asunción – Ibero-American Capital of Guaraní Gastronomy.”
