Paraguay To Host Historic First Ironman 70.3 In Encarnación

Paraguay will host its first-ever Ironman 70.3 in the vibrant city of Encarnación. The famous triathlon event on September 28 2025 marks a new chapter in the nation’s sporting history, officially introducing Paraguay on the international endurance sports map.

The inaugural edition of the athletic contest, consisting of swimming, cycling, and long-distance running, underscores Paraguay’s ability to organise large-scale international competitions. With the city’s scenic riverside and welcoming community, Paraguay stands out as a promising destination for sports tourism.

What to expect at the Ironman 70.3 in Encarnación

Following the success of April’s 5150 triathlon, also held in Encarnación, this upcoming competition is expected to draw athletes from across the country. Scheduled exatcly four months from now, the Ueno Bank Ironman 70.3 Encarnación will challenge participants with a vibrant course that winds through the city’s most picturesque areas, including its iconic Costanera and riverfront. Designed to showcase both the natural charm and urban energy of Encarnación, the route will push the athletes limits.

This triathlon follows the official Ironman 70.3 format: a 1.9 kilometer swim, a 90 kilometer bike ride, and a 21.1 kilometer run. The “70.3” denotes the total race distance of 70.3 miles, comprising a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run.

Open to elite competitors and amateur triathletes alike, the event invites individuals from all backgrounds to take part in a milestone celebration of endurance and achievement. Notably, the Ueno Bank Ironman 70.3 in Encarnación will also serve as a qualifier for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 World Championship, set to take place in Nice, France.

Registration and fees

Athletes can choose between two registration categories: Individual (US$401.50) and Relay (3-person team): (US$835.76). Fees are inventory-based and may change depending on availability.
