Erasmus+ 2025 Programme Connects Europe And Paraguay

Asunción’s Port Cultural Centre will host a special occasion that bridges continents and ideas. On November 8, 2025, the Erasmus+ 2025 event promises to connect Europe and Paraguay through a day of discovery, inspiration, and exchange. Dedicated to education and cultural dialogue, the gathering aims to highlight the many opportunities that the Erasmus+ Programme offers to Paraguayan students eager to make a meaningful impact on their communities and beyond.

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s flagship programme supporting education, training, and sport among Europe’s youth. With a remarkable budget of €26.2 billion, it fosters social inclusion, ecological awareness, and civic participation among young people. Its initiatives reach across diverse educational levels, ranging from higher education and vocational training to primary and secondary school partnerships.

Participating nations include all EU member states, the European Free Trade Association countries (Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), and potential future members such as Turkey, Serbia, and North Macedonia. Through these partnerships, Erasmus+ continues to strengthen global ties, offering participants life-changing experiences abroad while promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.

Students’ experiences at Erasmus+

For many Paraguayan students, Erasmus+ has already opened doors to new worlds of learning and cultural immersion.

Verónica Baruja, a student of Industrial Engineering, reflects on her journey: “The opportunity given by Erasmus+ allowed me to expand my views on digital transformation and sustainable development. It was one of the richest experiences of my life,” she shares with enthusiasm.

Similarly, Vivian González, studying Mechanical Engineering, speaks of her academic and cultural discoveries: “I learnt a lot about Germany, its language, its folklore, and the vision German people have about life and work. To anyone who has the opportunity to go, I highly recommend giving it a chance.”

These testimonials reveal how Erasmus+ nurtures not only academic growth but also intercultural understanding and personal transformation.

A tribute to a humanist legacy

The programme takes its name from Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus (1466–1536). Also known as Erasmus of Rotterdam, a Dutch humanist, theologian, and philosopher whose thought shaped the intellectual landscape of Europe. Among his influential works are The Praise of Folly, Handbook of a Christian Knight, and On Free Will.

Erasmus’ legacy continues to inspire the pursuit of knowledge and understanding across borders. His belief in education as a means for peace and enlightenment resonates deeply with the spirit of the Erasmus+ initiative.

Beyond the lectures: A taste of Europe

The event will also feature a gastronomic area. Visitors can savour a variety of European dishes prepared by some of Paraguay’s most talented chefs. Names such as José Torrijos, George Pattisier, Pulcinella, and Bo Angersbach promise to offer an authentic culinary journey through Europe’s diverse flavours.

This fusion of education and cuisine reflects the very essence of Erasmus+: connection through experience, dialogue, and culture. The event starts at 13:30 and runs until 18:30. Also, the meeting is free of charge, with prior registration on the EU official form.
