Becal Scholarship Programme Opens Applications for Undergraduate Mobility In Kansas

The National Scholarship Programme “Carlos Antonio López” (Becal), under the Paraguayan Ministry of Economy and Finances, has opened applications for its undergraduate international exchange programme in Kansas, United States. The deadline for applications is Monday, 29 September 2025. This initiative is undertaken in collaboration with the Paraguay Kansas Committee.

Scholarship details

Ten scholarships are available for undergraduate students from various universities and fields of study. To be eligible, students must be Paraguayan and have completed more than 50% of their undergraduate degree and wish to undertake a semester of study at a Kansas university. The scholarships are offered under the Assisted modality.

Applications for these supplementary scholarships must be submitted via email to movilidad@cpk.org.py. The Guidelines and Conditions document (Guía de Bases y Condiciones or GBC) is available at Becal’s website. Only programmes commencing between January and May 2026 will be considered now.

Application process and eligible universities

Following notification by Becal and before contract signing, selected students must complete an online application via the System for Application by Instrument (SPI).

Eligible universities in Kansas include: University of Kansas (KU), Kansas State University (KSU), Wichita State University (WSU), Washburn University (WU), Pittsburg State University (PSU), Emporia State University (ESU), Fort Hays State University (FHSU), and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Fields of Study

The international undergraduate exchange scholarships are available for students in the following areas: Natural Sciences (including Agricultural Sciences); Engineering and Technology; Health Sciences (excluding Medicine and Dentistry); Education (in accordance with the Frascati Manual classification); and Social Sciences (Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Psychology, Hospitality and Tourism, and others).

Application requirements

Applicants for the Becal Scholarship Programme must meet the general requirements for the international undergraduate exchange programme. They must be Paraguayan citizens or naturalised citizens. Furthermore, applicants must submit a letter from their home university, signed by the highest academic authority, certifying their current enrolment, the programme of study, and completion of at least 50% of the curriculum.

The letter should specify the subjects suggested for mobility, including their content and a simple translation. Applicants must also provide documentation for socioeconomic evaluation and complete the relevant application documents for their preferred university and the University Liaison Programme of the Paraguay Kansas Committee.

Funding

The undergraduate mobility scholarships are funded by the Fund for Excellence in Education and Research (Fondo para la Excelencia de la Educación y la Investigación, FEEI).

More than 2,000 returned Becal scholarship recipients are contributing in their areas of specialisation in Paraguay, said Becal coordinator Fátima Franco last year.
