Accelerating Bitcoin: Paraguay’s First Bitcoin-Only Conference!

Bitcoin. There is a word that frightens some, and enlightens others. Whenever something related to the decentralised digital currency using blockchain technology comes up, it makes attention-grabbing headlines. Now Asunción gears up for Accelerating Bitcoin (Acelerando Bitcoin), Paraguay’s first Bitcoin-only conference.

Scheduled for September 15 and 16, 2025, in Paseo La Galería in Asunción, the event focuses exclusively on Bitcoin, featuring speakers like Samson Mow, CEO of JAN3, and others promoting Bitcoin adoption and innovation in Latin America.

A milestone event for Paraguay

“Honestly, this is very exciting for me, because I have always wanted people in Paraguay to learn about Bitcoin”, says organiser and Bitcoin Paraguay member, Lorena Almada of JAN3, a Bitcoin technology company focused on expanding access to Bitcoin and financial freedom around the world. “I firmly believe that everyone in Latin America needs Bitcoin, to live or for savings.”

Bitcoin Paraguay is a non-profit community organisation dedicated to advancing Bitcoin adoption in Paraguay. Founded and run by volunteers based in several cities and regions of Paraguay, its main functions are to connect people interested in Bitcoin, exchange knowledge, increase adoption of the Bitcoin network, and foster local economic growth through circular economies across Paraguay. Getting Paraguay’s first Bitcoin-only event in, is considered another milestone for the community.

Accelerating Bitcoin: What to expect?

Add-ons to the conference are hands-on workshops and keynotes, networking, meet and greets, and an opening cocktail party, coffee breaks, and a closing party for VIP tickets. Led by some of the major names in the Bitcoin world, these presentations will give attendees valuable first-hand  guidance from people like Samson Mow, Canadian CEO of JAN3. Mow, best known for being the architect behind El Salvador’s plan to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, he is an ambassador for nationwide adoption of this cryptocurrency.

Another star speaker is Aydin Kilic, president and CEO of HIVE Digital Technologies, a Canadian company leading in cryptocurrency mining and high-performance computing for artificial intelligence, with data centres operating in Canada, Sweden, and Paraguay. HIVE’s environmental care pushed the company to look for countries with renewable energy sources to establish data centres. Of course, Paraguay is a beacon in that aspect, with its three hydroelectrics and 100% renewable energy.

From the regional scene, Ignacio Pauls, Argentine CCO of OCEAN, an American mining company, is expected at Accelerating Bitcoin. Caio Leta, Brazilian head of research at Bipa, a widely used app in Brazil for buying and selling Bitcoins, will speak also. From El Salvador, Napoleon Osorio, owner of Bitdriver, a transport and car rental service that adopted Bitcoin as its primary payment method, will also participate.

For novices and experts

In total, more than 30 speakers from all around the world will be educating people about the uses of Bitcoin during the conference.

“Even those with no Bitcoin knowledge can attend, as the conference covers topics like what Bitcoin is, how to begin, and its possibilities, ensuring it is accessible to all,” Almada says.

Exploring Bitcoin could be interesting for both Paraguayans and newcomers alike, offering an alternative for saving money and receiving international payments, which can be challenging for citizens. It also appeals to those considering Paraguay as a backup plan, highlighting the country’s growing significance in the global technological landscape.

Almada concludes by emphasising that she strongly encourages people who know nothing about Bitcoin yet, to attend. “I think joining Accelerating Bitcoin is a great opportunity to learn, and network with the right people.”
