Teletón Feast Raises Astonishing G. 303M For Children With Disabilities, Asunción Up Next!

Over 15,000 plates of food, desserts, and refreshing drinks were served at the Teletón Feast last Sunday! The La Comilona de Teletón event in Alto Paraná was held to raise funds for helping children and adolescents with physical disabilities, collecting an impressive amount of G. 303,000,000.

At the event on Sunday, many families enjoyed this gastronomic celebration of solidarity and, in doing so, contributed to supporting the families served by the Teletón Foundation. This is a private, non-profit organisation that has been providing services in Paraguay since 1979, supporting children and adolescents with disabilities and promoting a more inclusive society.

Over Sixty Food Stalls At The Teletón

The Teletón Feast, which took place in the Department of Alto Paraná, featured more than sixty food stalls offering delicious and diverse options. Additionally, there was a play area for children and live performances by over twenty national artists, presenters, and influencers who volunteered their time and talent.

This day was a true family celebration of solidarity,” said Teletón Foundation’s Executive Director, Victor Ibarrola, expressing his enthusiasm. “This event is not only to raise funds to help more children access the free, quality services offered by Teletón, but also to reinforce the spirit of unity and society’s commitment to inclusion.

Fuller, More Independent Lives

Teletón operates the Centros de Rehabilitación Integral Teletón (CRITs), a centre that offers a wide range of assistance, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and psychological support for children and their families. These services are free of charge and aim to empower children with disabilities to live fuller, more independent lives.

Teletón’s Rehabilitation Centre in Alto Paraná serves over 500 children and adolescents with disabilities from the cities of Alto Paraná, Amambay, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Canindeyú, Concepción, and Itapúa. They will benefit dearly from the staggering amount of G. 303,000,000 raised during this edition of the Teletón Feast. Just to give you an idea, at the event two years ago, the amount raised was G. 150,000,000. This time the result was more than double!

How To Join?

The foundation’s next major event will be La Comilona in Asunción, to be held on Sunday, 1 June, at the Jubilados Bancarios headquarters. There are three main ways to collaborate with Teletón. One is by gathering a group of friends or family to become the cooks behind the Teletón meal.

You bring the ingredients, the effort, the creativity, and the heart – and we will provide the space”, says Teletón Foundation’s Executive Director Ibarrola.

Also, different brands can get involved by becoming sponsors of the event. The third way is simply to come along on June 1st, hungry and ready to enjoy this special edition of the feast in Asunción, which brings together people from across the country!

Last year, La Comilona welcomed several international visitors who came to experience traditional Paraguayan cuisine, and this year, there will also be a variety of international dishes on offer.

While this event was held in the eastern part of the country, another fundraiser was held yesterday in Asunción. La Fiesta de la Banderita was organised by the Red Cross of Paraguay.
