Iconic Mariscal López Avenue springs back to life with smoother traffic flow after the reopening of a key stretch from the San Lorenzo bike path (Yberá area) to Víctor Cáceres Street, even as construction powers on elsewhere.
Recently the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced the reopening of Mariscal López Avenue to vehicular traffic. The affected section, between the San Lorenzo cycle path and the intersection with Víctor Cáceres Street, is now fully operational, marking the end of the previous diversions.
Renovation project almost 60% complete
This reopening restores traffic flow on a key stretch of the iconic avenue following recent road improvements. In recent weeks, workers completed paving between the cycle path and Shopping Pinedo. Both lanes now have their final asphalt layer, allowing for the normal circulation of vehicles, MOPC reported. The overall renovation project is now almost 60% complete.
Whilst traffic flows again, workers have not fully completed the site. Final-stage tasks, including painting the road, installing horizontal and vertical signs, and other supplementary details, are still pending. Workers will carry out these activities without disrupting traffic, ensuring smooth vehicle movement during completion.
Drainage improvements implemented
Alongside the roadworks on Mariscal López Avenue, hydraulic works were carried out near Luis Alberto del Paraná Avenue. Double and single cell culverts of varying sizes were installed to enhance rainwater drainage and prevent flooding.
Further interventions are scheduled for this weekend, including the construction of speed bumps at the intersection of Mariscal López and Ingavi, and kerbs and gutters at the Santa Teresa crossing. Highway Patrol officers will be on site to manage traffic flow and guide motorists.
Roadworks on the capital area most iconic avenue is an ongoing process. Work continues in other areas of the avenue, with planned interventions expected to not affect traffic circulation. Progress remains steady towards project completion. MOPC reaffirms its commitment to moving forward with this strategic project, which seeks to substantially improve connectivity and quality of life in the metropolitan area.
