Digital Skills And Innovation At The UAP International Summit 2025 In Asunción

The UAP (Universidad Autónoma del Paraguay) International Summit 2025 brought together leaders in education, innovation, and business for a full day of discussions on Artificial Intelligence, reskilling, and the rapidly changing world of work. Held earlier in November at the Sheraton Hotel Asunción, the event highlighted Paraguay’s growing determination to strengthen its position in the regional digital landscape. The occasion also encouraged participants to reflect on how digital transformation is reshaping learning, employment, and strategic decision-making across society.

A summit centred on talent and transformation

The 2025 theme, “From AI to Reskilling: How Do We Re-form Talent?”, invited attendees to consider the pace at which new technologies are influencing labour markets. The message was clear. Digital transformation is no longer a distant prospect. The change is a present reality that demands flexibility, curiosity, and stronger cooperation between institutions.

Throughout the conference, speakers examined Paraguay’s readiness for this shift. The panellists addressed the urgent need for continuous training and digital literacy. Moreover, speakers stressed that Paraguay’s competitiveness will depend on its ability to develop professionals who can adapt quickly and work across disciplines. As one of them said: “These skills are essential in an economy shaped by automation, data, and fast innovation cycles.”

“The work of the future is not waiting for us to be ready.”

One of the most anticipated voices of the day was Professor Pedro R. Mondelo, Director of the ORP International Foundation. Mondelo opened the Summit by warning that the transition to new forms of work has already begun. “The work of the future is not waiting for us to be ready,” he said, urging institutions and professionals to anticipate change rather than react to it.

His intervention focused on the increasing value of human judgement. “We need new skills and new ways of thinking,” also emphasising the limits of technology when decisions require context, ethics, or creativity. Mondelo then introduced the idea of the “digital craftsman”, a figure who can detect patterns, understand systems, and act responsibly when technology cannot provide answers. “A professional capable of maintaining continuity and making decisions when the machines are silent,” he explained, pointing to the kinds of talents that will shape resilient organisations.

Professor Mondelo’s remarks set the tone for the rest of the day. His words echoed through the panels and inspired renewed attention to the human side of digital transformation.

Shared vision for Paraguay’s digital future

Although the Summit featured international experts and local leaders, the narrative remained aligned. Speakers agreed that AI offers remarkable opportunities, yet its success depends on people who understand how to use it with intention. Discussions covered sustainable leadership, lifelong learning, and the growth of resilient organisations capable of navigating uncertain environments.

There was also a strong call to strengthen cooperation between universities, businesses, and government institutions. This collaboration, the speakers argued, will support the creation of new training programmes and innovation networks. Together, these elements point towards a future where Paraguay can expand its presence within the region’s technology ecosystem.

Human capability at the centre

Instead of listing key messages, speakers consistently returned to a central idea. As one contributor stated, “Technology amplifies our capabilities, but its true value emerges when it is combined with human judgement.” Others highlighted that organisational resilience begins with people who can think critically and act confidently, even without technological support. This perspective framed a larger commitment to invest in talent and encourage professional reinvention across sectors.

The demands of a new era

The Summit closed with a shared understanding. Paraguay stands at a decisive moment as organisations confront the challenges of rapid technological change. The future will reward those who can learn quickly, reinvent themselves, and lead through ongoing transformation. Events such as the UAP International Summit 2025 demonstrate the country’s growing ambition to strengthen digital skills and prepare its workforce for the demands of the new era.
