A new edition of Asunción’s cycling ride will take place on Sunday, 29 March 2026, bringing together riders across the city. Now in its 12th edition, the event carries the slogan “Respect the Cyclist”. Organisers aim to promote safer roads while encouraging community participation.
The initiative is led by Ciclesport S.A., with support from the Municipality of Asunción. Activities will begin at 08:00, with the starting point set at the Botanical Garden and Zoo. From there, cyclists will follow a planned route through several key streets and avenues.
A ride with purpose
This event aims to go beyond sport. The cycling ride seeks to raise awareness about the importance of road safety for cyclists. In particular, organisers emphasise the need for drivers to keep a distance of at least 1.5 metres when overtaking. By gathering cyclists in one visible movement, the ride sends a clear message to the wider public. Moreover, it highlights the growing cycling culture in Asunción. As a result, organisers hope to foster respect and coexistence between cyclists and motorists.
Participation is open and free of charge. However, attendees may purchase a commemorative jersey. This item includes a coupon for prize draws, adding an extra incentive for participants.
Cycling ride route
The route both begins and ends at the Botanical Garden. Along the way, cyclists will pass through major roads such as Avenida Primer Presidente and Avenida San Martín. The circuit also includes República Argentina, Eusebio Ayala, and Choferes del Chaco. In addition, several hydration points will be available. These stops are located along Isaac Kostianovsky, Plaza Pedro J. Caballero, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, and Plaza Emilio Cubas.
Safety First
Organisers strongly stress safety measures. Wearing a helmet is mandatory for all participants in the cycling ride. Furthermore, bicycles must be in optimal condition before the ride begins. These precautions aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
On the same day, the large soft combat event organised by Medieval Fest in Asunción will take place, also at the Botanical Garden.
