With a proposal that places Paraguayan craftsmanship at the centre of its international projection, Paraguay continues to consolidate its presence at the Costa Rica Fashion Week 2026. Building on its debut at the event, the country presented a renewed showcase that reinforces its identity through design, tradition and cultural expression.
Following the initial presentation of Paraguayan designers, this second moment focused on deepening the narrative behind each piece. The collections highlighted not only aesthetics but also the stories, territories and artisanal processes that define Paraguay`s cultural heritage.
Paraguayan craftsmanship identity on the runway
The Paraguayan delegation featured several brands. They presented collections that combined contemporary design with traditional techniques. Their pieces reflected the use of ancestral knowledge, respect for raw materials and the value of artisanal work.
This approach positions Paraguayan craftsmanship and fashion within a global movement that increasingly values authenticity, sustainability and cultural roots. In a rapidly evolving international fashion landscape, Paraguay`s proposal stood out by demonstrating that innovation can emerge from tradition. Rather than following trends, the collections emphasised identity as a source of creativity.
One of the most distinctive elements of the presentation was the musical accompaniment. This musical accompaniment was played by Paraguayan harpist Nicolás Carter. His performance added an emotional layer to the runway, reinforcing the country`s cultural identity.
The inclusion of live traditional music created a multisensory experience, connecting fashion with Paraguay`s broader artistic heritage. Furthermore, this combination of visual and auditory elements contributed to a more immersive and memorable presentation.
Support for Paraguayan craftmanship
Paraguay`s participation was made possible through coordinated efforts between the Paraguayan Institute of Handicrafts (IPA). Also, thanks to the Paraguayan Embassy in Costa Rica, led by ambassador Julio Duarte Van Humbeck.
This collaboration forms part of a broader strategy to promote Paraguayan craftsmanship identity and cultural industries on the international stage. By supporting designers and artisans, these institutions aim to strengthen the country’s global positioning while generating new opportunities for cultural exchange and commercial development.
Growing international presence
This latest showcase complements Paraguay`s earlier participation in the event. This establishes the country as both an emerging voice in sustainable and culturally rooted fashion. By combining design, music and tradition, Paraguayan craftsmanship continues to present a cohesive narrative that resonates beyond the runway. Its presence at the Costa Rica Fashion Week 2026 not only highlights creative talent but also reinforces the value of cultural identity in global fashion conversations.
