Paraguayan Meat Exports Expands With New Asian Destination

Paraguayan meat exports have gained access to the market of Uzbekistan. By securing a new export destination for beef, mutton, and related by-products, Paraguay continues to diversify its exports to the world. The development marks another step in the international expansion of the country’s meat industry.

The opening for Paraguayan meat exports to Uzbekistan was announced by the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (SENACSA). The Government institution confirmed that the authorisation followed the agreement and signing of sanitary requirements between the veterinary authorities of both countries. The Uzbek Veterinary Service subsequently issued formal approval for the entry of Paraguayan products.

Diversifying Paraguayan meat export markets

Access to Uzbekistan for Paraguayan meat exports represents a strategic milestone in Paraguay’s market diversification policy. Expanding into new destinations strengthens the country’s presence in global trade and reduces reliance on traditional export markets. In December 2025, President Santiago Peña became the first-ever Latin American president to visit Uzbekistan. Now, with this new export opportunity, Paraguay confirms its new developing economic relationship with the Central Asian country.

Officials noted that the approval also reflects international confidence in Paraguay’s animal health controls and livestock production standards. Both of these are essential conditions for entering competitive markets.

Boost for the ovine sector

With Paraguayan meat exports underway, the new destination is particularly significant for the ovine industry. This is a segment with considerable growth potential that now gains access to an additional international outlet. Although beef remains the leading export product, this opening represents an important milestone for the sheep sector, offering fresh opportunities for expansion.

Authorities expect the development to energise the production chain, encourage investment, and create economic opportunities for producers. Particularly in rural areas where livestock farming plays a central role in employment and regional development.

Strengthening Paraguayan meat exports and industry

With the opening of the Uzbek market, Paraguayan meat exports further consolidates its presence in international trade. Expanding access for both beef and mutton not only broadens the country’s export footprint but also enhances resilience by reducing dependence on traditional destinations.

Market diversification remains a central pillar of Paraguay’s external trade strategy. By securing new sanitary approvals and entering emerging markets, the country strengthens its ability to respond to global demand fluctuations and price cycles.

This latest development reinforces Paraguay’s reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality meat products. As export destinations expand, the sector continues to play a central role in national economic growth and trade expansion.
