Words & Sound: An innovative festival that unites music and literature in Asunción

Asunción is preparing to host Words & Sound, the first festival that combines music and literature, next Saturday, April 6, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Patio Leonor of the Manzana de la Rivera Cultural Center.

This innovative event will feature two simultaneous fairs: one dedicated to books, organized by Editorial Rosalba and Arandurã Editorial, and another focused on vinyl, run by Vinilo Cooltural and other renowned collectors.

One of the highlights of Words & Sound will be the presentation of renowned producer, DJ, bassist and key figure of the national electronic scene, Cosmo (LPZ). His musical selection will span a wide range of genres, from hardcore and jazz to reggae, soul, disco, hip-hop, punk and metal, offering audiences an eclectic and captivating listening experience.

At 8:00 p.m., the launch of the new novel by Juan Ramírez Biedermann, titled Mango, will take place under the Editorial Rosalba seal. The presentation will be given by the writer Bernardo Neri Farina, president of the Paraguayan Academy of the Spanish Language.

Mango narrates a series of supposed miraculous healings in the Las Mercedes neighborhood of Asunción, following the investigation of the protagonist, Felipe Bayón, who decides to investigate these events and share his findings in a monthly column in a local newspaper.

The night will culminate with the first concert of the year by the national band Eyesight, formed in 1995 and made up of Juan Andrés Colmán, Jorge Barrios, Guillermo Gayo, Paulo Lezcano and Juan Ramírez Biedermann, also known as Zethyaz.

Since their reappearance in 2018, the band has maintained constant activity, releasing their second album “Forking Path” (2021), the EP “Bells in June” (2023) and several singles and video clips. The concert will take place at 10:00 p.m. at the Ruy Díaz de Guzmán Auditorium, with tickets available at Passline.

Words & Sound is presented as a unique event that seeks to unite two forms of artistic expression: music and literature. With a wide range of activities, from book and vinyl fairs to literary launches and live concerts, this festival promises to be a meeting point for lovers of both disciplines. Admission is free for all activities, except for the Eyesight concert.
