The potter Cirila Cabrera is in charge of the life-size nativity scene that will adorn the gardens of the Government Palace starting November 30, in the creation of the “Christmas Guarania.”
The celebration is promoted by the Office of the First Lady in order to celebrate the Christmas spirit with a tribute to the guarania.
In a video released by First Lady Leticia Ocampos, Cirila tells how she has been molding large-sized saints and nativity scenes for 45 years, an activity that she started with her late husband. Today, as the heir to this family tradition, she expressed her pride in contributing her art to this work that will be admired by all Paraguayans.
The nativity scene will be one of the main attractions of the “Christmas Guarania”, along with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the López Palace, scheduled for next Saturday, November 30 at 8pm.
The choice of the name “Christmas Guarania” coincides with the week in which Paraguay will host the nineteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO, from December 2 to 7, where the declaration of Guarania as Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is expected. Humanity.
Throughout the month of December there will be musical and cultural activities celebrating our cultural heritage, as well as the traditions of Paraguayan Christmas, such as the clay baby Jesus and the decoration with the coconut flower.
