The opening of the 2025 Central Department Scholarship Program has been announced by local government, aimed at students within the Central Department area, to promote higher education and reduce economic barriers to access to university training. The Central Department comprises Asunción and the 19 districts of the metropolitan area around Asunción. This program aims to facilitate access to higher, technical and artistic education for low-income people.
For this call, the Government has made available a total of 500 places for students who meet the established requirements. Applicants must submit their application between Monday 9 and Friday 13 December.
The necessary documentation includes a copy of the identity card, a certificate of studies and a certificate of residence and life. All documents must be uploaded in PDF format on the website of the Governorate.
Requirements to apply for the Central Department Scholarship Program
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Paraguayan citizen
- Resident of the Central department
- Registered in the Permanent Civil Registry in said department
- Have a minimum average of 3.5 in secondary school or 3 in previous university studies.
- Not be beneficiaries of another state scholarship program or possess a degree.
- Those who have already been scholarship recipients must prove participation in volunteer activities.
Timeline and stages of evaluation for the scholarship program
Application and documentation
The application period will take place from December 9 to 13. Documents will be evaluated between December 16 and 20, and the preliminary list of those eligible to take the exams will be published on December 23. Claims can be made on December 26 and 27, and the final list of applicants will be published on December 30.
Academic assessment
The selection exams will begin on January 10 with the Spanish test and will continue on January 14 with the math test. The final results will be announced on January 22, and a review period will be offered on January 23 and 24.
Socioeconomic assessment
Candidates who pass the academic assessment will participate in the socioeconomic assessment. Data upload will take place on January 30 and 31, and the analysis of socioeconomic conditions will take place from February 3 to 5.
Closing and awarding
The final list of scholarship recipients will be published on February 7, and those selected must submit the original documents between February 10 and 12 at the Secretariat of Education and Sports of the Governorate.
Additional conditions of the scholarship program
Beneficiaries of previous calls must demonstrate participation in at least six volunteer activities. In addition, the program content for the Spanish and mathematics exams is available on the Governor’s website, as well as the list of higher education institutions in agreement.
