The former owners of Amaszonas Airlines will form a new national airline in Paraguay, with a plan to start the first flights to the Chaco in December, four times per week. This was announced by the governor of Boquerón, Harold Bergen, during an interview.
“Now the second phase of registration will begin; The planes will arrive in September and the first flights are planned in December,” he reported.
“Since last year we have been with a company, with former owners of Aerolíneas Amazonas, which was later sold to Paranair. They now want to form a national airline in Paraguay, and this also includes flights to Chaco,” he pointed out.
It will connect Asunción with different areas of the country
Bergen highlighted that the businessmen will have planes with capacity for 76 passengers and that the flights will be destined for various points in the country.
“They will bring some planes with capacity for 76 passengers, and they will make flights from Asunción, Ciudad del Este, Encarnación and to Chaco – to Loma Plata and Mariscal Estigarribia – and the plan is to make trips four times a week to Chaco,” he remarked. .
Chaco airports have operational capacity
The governor of Boquerón also affirmed that the Mariscal Estigarribia and Loma Plata airports meet the requirements to operate with aeroplanes, despite them not being the most modern airports.
“The Mariscal Estigarribia airport is large and has no drawbacks; while the one in Loma Plata has a control tower, has fuel, lights and everything that is needed. Although the runway is dirt, it is dry and any model of aircraft can land without problems,” he stressed.
He also highlighted that the procedures have already begun with Dinac, for the granting of permission for commercial flights.
“We have already contacted the directors and owner of the Loma Plata aerodrome, the letter of interest has already been signed and we are working with the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC) for the permit procedures, for the granting of commercial flights,” he added.
Flights will save time on trips
“There is a lot of development in the Chaco, and much more will come with the Bioceánica project. As governor, I must go to Asunción every week and it takes 5 hours, and the air flights will speed up, save a lot of time on trips and also for security,” Bergen added.
“They did two studies and it was highlighted that the incorporation of air flights to Chaco is extremely important, and thus develop and strengthen the culture of flights, because we are used to driving.”
