Paraguay opens the 2025 Culture Week with a national programme designed to celebrate identity, creativity, and cultural diversity. The National Secretariat of Culture organises the event and brings together artists, performers, leaders, and communities from across the country. The celebration runs over a week and reinforces Paraguay’s commitment to cultural development and community participation.
A broad programme to celebrate national culture
Culture Week accompanies the annual Day of Culture, celebrated each 17 November to honour national identity. The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, festivals, and public gatherings in various cultural spaces. These events aim to strengthen appreciation for the country’s intangible heritage and diverse artistic expressions.
Activities cover theatre, dance, literature, visual arts, and heritage management. Many events encourage community involvement, while others focus on training and dialogue. The agenda also highlights the work of cultural managers, collectives, and local creators who shape the country’s artistic landscape.
The National Secretariat of Culture describes the week as a space for reflection and shared celebration. The initiative seeks to position culture as a driver of social cohesion and sustainable development. All activities are free and open to the public, and the programme may adapt as new activities are confirmed.
Heritage, innovation, and exchange

The programme features several notable events across different dates. Among them is El Vestido del Arte, a dialogue between fashion and painting inspired by works displayed at the National Museum of Fine Arts. Designers reinterpret classic and modern pieces, creating a bridge between visual art and contemporary design.
The week also includes El Reencuentro de la Historia, an exhibition of manuscripts linked to Hernandarias and Fernando de la Mora. The display forms part of an ongoing process of returning historical documents to Paraguay. Visitors can explore these valuable pieces at the National Archive.
Multiple exhibitions honour Paraguayan artists. Expo Federico Caballero presents a notable selection of works and offers guided visits at the Staudt Cultural Space. These sessions allow the public to engage directly with the painter’s legacy.
Several activities focus on cultural training and policy. The Taller de CONCULTURA, held at the Staudt Cultural Space, brings advisers together to discuss the formulation of the National Culture Plan 2050. The dialogue supports long-term planning and inclusive cultural development.
Performances and community activities around Paraguay
Performing arts play a major role in the programme. The Festival Internacional Bhagavad Gita brings a philosophical and spiritual dialogue to the National Library, while the Festival Poético Internacional features poets from Paraguay and abroad, including the Honduran writer Linda Redondo.
Traditional arts also receive recognition through the delivery of Tesoro Nacional Vivo declarations, which honour individuals and communities who preserve knowledge, rituals, and oral traditions. Two ceremonies are scheduled, each focusing on different cultural areas.
Music takes centre stage with the Gran Concierto de la Guarania in Caazapá, 230km from Asunción, celebrating one of Paraguay’s most emblematic musical traditions. The city also hosts the opening of the Centro de Interpretación AVAIU, a new space dedicated to regional heritage.
