Opened in November 2021, the bar was founded by Joaquín Miltos and Fabiola Bordón, whose shared enthusiasm for music, service, and hospitality shaped the concept. “Our inspiration in offering a karaoke bar is based on music of every artistic genre,” they explain. “People always look for a place to have fun and release stress. And singing attracts people of almost all ages.”
From its earliest nights, El Portal became a meeting point for those who wanted more than just a drink, a space to sing, laugh, and unwind in the company of others.
Design and atmosphere
Located on a corner in downtown Asunción, El Portal Karaoke was designed for comfort and sound. Inside, blue lighting reflects softly on the walls, creating a modern, lively mood. The bar is divided into two air-conditioned rooms: one for karaoke, where guests take the microphone under a glowing light. And another for the pool, a quieter space for games and conversation.
“The pool room is a fun place to play and share with friends.” Between both areas, the bar counter becomes a visual focal point: rows of glasses, bottles, and colourful syrups line the shelves, ready for the next cocktail order. The setup combines simplicity and function, giving the space an intimate yet dynamic character.
The sound system, handled with professional care, ensures that every song, whether sung by a newcomer or a regular, resonates clearly, filling the rooms with rhythm and applause.

El Portal’s menu reflects the diversity of its visitors. The selection includes Paraguayan and imported beers, whisky, tequila, and Jägermeister, as well as soft drinks and sparkling or still water for non-alcoholic options.
The cocktails are among the main attractions. Favourites include Fernet, Gin Tonic, Caipiriña, Peach and Strawberry Daiquiris, and Aperol, often prepared at the centre bar where the clink of ice and the scent of fruit mix with background melodies. To accompany the drinks, the bar serves picadas (finger foods), pizzas, and snacks, perfect for sharing between songs.
“We value kindness and a positive attitude in good service,” say Joaquín and Fabiola, who see hospitality as the core of the business.
Events and community
While karaoke is the soul of the venue, El Portal also opens its stage to other forms of entertainment. Birthday parties, concerts by local bands, and stand-up monologues are frequent, adding variety to the evenings. “The karaoke makes it ideal for meetings and for getting to know people. It is a place to share with friends, co-workers, or family.”
Each night, the mix of regulars and newcomers creates a sense of community. The bar’s team, known for their friendliness, helps maintain that relaxed rhythm that keeps the night flowing.
Their routine also allows the staff to recharge while ensuring top service during the busiest nights. “We always try to offer the best attention so that everyone leaves satisfied and wants to come back.”
