After the announcement of American rock band Green Day performing in Paraguay later this year, another globally renowned artist is coming to the country in 2025! Colombian superstar Shakira announced that she has added Paraguay to her Las Mujeres ya no lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) World Tour. Shakira will perform on 28 November 2025 at the Nueva Olla, home of football club Cerro Porteño.
On July 21, 2025, Shakira added a second concert in Paraguay, scheduled for November 29, also at the Nueva Olla in Asunción. Tickets available for this second date starting at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22.
Shakira’s return to Paraguay
The Las Mujeres ya no lloran World Tour, which started in Rio de Janeiro on February 11, is now in the United States. A couple of days ago, Shakira performed in San Francisco at Oracle Park, the home of the American baseball team San Francisco Giants, with a capacity of 41,000 people. Shakira will be back in Latin American at the end of August, as she will be performing in Mexico.
Last time the Colombian singer came to the Paraguay was fourteen years ago on March 8, 2011, for her Sale el Sol (The Sun Rises) World Tour. The concert was held at the Jockey Club, which has a capacity of slightly over 10,000 people.
A bit about Shakira
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born in 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her name, “Shakira,” means grateful in Arabic, as her father’s family is from Lebanon. She is a renowned singer, songwriter, and dancer with a career spanning more than thirty years. While she rose to fame at the end of the 1990s, her first album Magía was released in 1991, at 14 years old.
In 1995, she released her first official studio album, Pies Descalzos. It gave her an international tribune and contributed to the success she has today. Her breakthrough international hit “Whenever, Wherever,” released in 2001, established her as a Latin pop superstar and earned her worldwide recognition. In 2010, Shakira released the famous “Waka Waka” song for the 2010 football World Cup held in South Africa. It was also the last time the Paraguayan national football team participated on the world stage.
Shakira can sing in Spanish, Portuguese, French, English, and Arabic.
Beyond music, Shakira is a dedicated philanthropist, founding the Barefoot Foundation in 1997 to support education for underprivileged children. She has also been a UNICEF ambassador since 2003. Her cultural impact extends beyond entertainment, making her one of Latin America’s most influential and successful artists. Shakira continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her artistic versatility, and humanitarian efforts.
On tour with around 150 people
Shakira is travelling with around 150 people; manager, producers, technicians, musicians, and dancers. The equipment on this tour weight around 93 tons! To give a perspective, an adult elephant can weigh up to 7 tons, which means it weighs the equivalent of 13 of them!
Although it is challenging to precisely estimate the economic impact on Paraguay at this stage, Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour has already generated substantial revenue, with Billboard reporting profits of approximately US$70.6 million to date. The upcoming concert in Asunción could be considered the concert of the decade for Paraguay, even before a single ticket has been sold.
Second concert announcement!
The second concert is scheduled for November 29, 2025, at Estadio Ueno La Nueva Olla in Asunción. This follows her first show the day before, at the same venue. This marks a historic moment, as Shakira is the first artist to perform two consecutive shows at this stadium. Tickets available for the second date starting at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 22.
