Cero Quejas (Zero Complaints): New Film To Be Shot In Asunción

Zero Complaints (Cero Quejas), the new film by Paraguayan producer and director Daryus Carámbula, will begin shooting in Asunción and Buenos Aires this November 2025. The film is adapted from the book by Paraguayan writer and emotional intelligence expert Silvia Gil, who invites readers to convert complaints into resilience.

“Cero Quejas” is a self-help book designed to help readers improve their emotional intelligence and productivity. It does this by encouraging readers to stop complaining, as complaints can negatively affect the brain, promote a victim mindset, and hinder action. By eliminating complaints, the book aims to help readers develop a more positive, proactive approach to life.

Cross-border production with a message

Argentine actor Gerardo Romano, whose professional experience includes cinema, theatre, and television, will be the main figure. The crew of the film will include both experienced Paraguayan actors and young talents, ensuring an energetic blend of performances.

Carámbula, known for his socially engaged narration, signed with Gil to translate her work to the cinema. The translation will be both drama and comedy, representing the absurdity of everyday complaints in ironic, sarcastic, and human manners. Therefore, each scene provokes thought and offers enjoyment.

Silvia Gil, whose writing the film was inspired by, highlights the need for emotional balance in today’s life. According to Gil, “The importance of Cero Quejas is that there is a growing need for emotional well-being and mental health in a world afflicted by multiple crises, such as daily stress and social polarisation.”

In that context, the film is meant to motivate movie viewers to handle emotions in a positive way and embrace personal empowerment. The plot of the tale prompts viewers to laugh at their frustrations and acquire skills to handle them smartly.

Filming across two capitals

The shooting will take five weeks, with scenes taken in urban settings, symbolic interiors, and even a future world. Locations are Asunción, other Paraguayan cities, and Buenos Aires, reflecting the global context of the story through diverse settings.

The film’s photography, sound, and visuals will be experimental and provocative, reflecting Carámbula’s artistic style. Cero Quejas will be out in 2026, sure to stir up discourse regarding attitude, toughness, and the art of releasing.

A multicultural, skilled cast

Completing Romano’s cast are Calolo Rodríguez, Carmen Briano (an Argentine actress based in Paraguay), and Fabu Pop, with the aid of Luis Blanco, Diana Frutos, Javier Lacognata, China Padrón Rossi, Celina Fernández, Clyde Cowan, and Edgar Mora. They form a very talented cast ready to bring this Paraguayan-Argentine co-production to the international stage.

The new production adds to Paraguay’s expanding cinematic landscape, led by filmmakers such as Gaspar Insfrán, whose focus on authenticity and observation reflects the same artistic commitment seen in Cero Quejas.
