New Christmas 2025 Stamps Collection Released Across Paraguay

A new collection of Christmas stamps is now available across Paraguay, blending national tradition with artistic expression. The National Directorate of Post of Paraguay (Dinacopa) has released 6,000 units of its “Christmas 2025” stamps, offering the public two carefully designed pieces inspired by Paraguayan culture and Christian imagery.

A festive release

The National Directorate of Post of Paraguay, through its Philatelic Advisory Office, placed the new stamps into circulation in early December. Both designs are based on works by Mauro Thompson, a self-taught artist known for his acrylic paintings and mixed techniques. Each stamp combines Christian themes with visual elements strongly linked to Paraguayan identity.

The Gs. 5,000 stamp is titled The Annunciation Under a Ñandutí Sky. The stamp illustrates the moment the Angel announces to Mary the arrival of the Saviour. The artwork merges this biblical scene with delicate patterns inspired by Ñandutí, the traditional lace that symbolises Paraguayan craftsmanship. As a result, the image offers a familiar story seen through a local lens.

Meanwhile, the Gs. 10,000 stamp, titled The Holy Family Among Lapachos and Coconut Trees, places the Holy Family within a landscape featuring two emblematic Paraguayan plants. The lapacho, often associated with national pride, stands beside tall coconut trees. Mburucuyá flowers frame the scene, evoking decoration, memory, and childhood traditions associated with Christmas.

Tradition, art, and postal history

These stamps can be used for both national and international postage. Users can combine them freely to match the required postal value. With their cultural references and thoughtful designs, the “Christmas 2025” stamps offer not only a practical use but also a festive way to celebrate Paraguayan identity during the holiday season.

Where and how to obtain the stamps

A total of 3,000 stamps were printed for each value. Collectors and the general public can purchase them at the headquarters of the Paraguayan Post Office, located at Alberdi 130 and Benjamín Constant. The office opens from Monday to Friday, between 07:00 and 13:00. Those wishing to make enquiries may write to filateliaventas@gmail.com
