Imagine yourself being in a laid back bar and having fun with your friends by playing a game of pool while you are drinking a very cold Guinness, Kiagus or another artisanal beer. Sounds good, right! Well, Rack’n Roll in downtown Asunción is the place to be!
Rack’n Roll opened the doors one year ago. The owner comes from the UK and wanted to create something unique in Asunción. He decided to open this pool bar, all created by himself, with the idea to combine a place for entertainment with a not-so-common bar. And it has to be said: he has achieved that! After one year, the bar has already become quite popular because of the great combination of a game of pool or darts, with his unique artisanal beers, the music, and the relaxed vibe.
Rack’n Roll is located at the Mcal. Estigarribia street, next to plaza Uruguaya. It will be hard to walk by and not notice the place, because the speakers outside are enough to draw your attention and get you inside. Once inside, you will directly feel the laid-back atmosphere and in case you had a stressful day, all the stress will disappear.
Regular customers vary their activities according to what they prefer. Some of them prefer to sit at the bar, drink a beer, and talk with other customers. Others come to the bar to play pool with their friends or colleagues. But they are all saying the same: ‘the atmosphere here is great! Because of the way the bar is decorated it and the music. You know you are in Asunción but it feels like you are in Europe’.
But it is not just the atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed, it is also the owner and staff that gives you that feeling and always make you very feel very welcome. Once you are inside, you just want to stay and it will be difficult to leave again.
Rack’N Roll: Much more than just a poolbar
Of course the pool bar sells regular beers like Pilsen and Munich, but something unique about Rack’N Roll is the fact that it offers a big, impressive collection of artisanal and special beers. For every tastebud there will be a beer to enjoy.!There are black beers, ersten, weisen, IPA’s, and all kinds of other types. For now, there are two big refrigerators full with all kinds of special collected beers, like Guinness, Kaigus, Birrakula and the collection of Chaparron. In the near future, the bar will add even more.
Chaparron is the artisanal beer that comes from the capital of Paraguay’s Chaco region, Filadelfia. Rack’n Roll sells the brand and has the whole collection. And there is only one place in Asunción where you can get the beer… and that is at Rack’N Roll!
So for all the beer lovers who want to try this beer: Either you go traveling for eight hours to get to Filadelfia, or you visit Rack’N Roll in downtown Asunción!
Have you ever tried a beer mixed with cocos? Well, Birrakula makes one and it is absolutely worth trying it. And of course… it’s available at Rack’N Roll.
And what about a beer with the taste of mandarin? It’s a new session IPA from Kiagus, very refeshing and absolutely recommended if you like fruity IPA’s. Kiagus is the artisanal beer from Encarnación. The bottles are designed with labels that make small tributes to people, things or characters from Paraguay. The collection is big, and guess what – Rack’n Roll is the only place in downtown selling it.
But even without the collection of Chaparron, the pool bar is unique in downtown Asunción because… it also has Guinness! And who doesn’t love a Guinness?
The artisanal beers are all offered in bottles. In case you have tried a special beer and became a fan of it, you are able to buy some bottles and bring them home with you.

In case you are not a fan of beer but prefer a cocktail, there are also cocktails available. All the popular drinks like fernet, gin-tonic, and caipirinha, are available, as well as some others. And there is food available – the burgers are great!
Rack’N Roll brings great beers and entertainment together
‘Rack’ stands for the fact that when you start a game of pool, you put the balls in the triangle. That’s called a ‘rack’. And like the name already says, the music played in the bar is a mix between all kinds of Rock music. You can hear Queen, The Beatles, Aerosmith, Metallica, Guns&Roses, and a lot more. Instead of Rock&Roll, the owner decided to call it Rack’n Roll.
For now the bar has three pool tables. Two are on the main floor. You can bring your own billiard cues if you like, and you can of course also use the ones provided by the bar itself, at no additional cost. The price to play a game of pool is just Gs 10.000 (approximately USD 1.25).
Upstairs there is a third pool table, and it’s also the place to be if you want to do something totally different. It also has a special area where you are able to play darts.
Inside and outside there are enough places to sit in case you are not in the mood to play pool or darts but just want to drink a good beer, enjoy the music and get into the relaxed, laid back vibe.
Ofcourse the owner himself is a fan of playing pool and is quite good at it. So whenever you are new to playing pool, he can always give you some tips and teach you a bit.
Rack’n Roll is open five days a week, from Tuesday through Saturday. It opens each day at 4pm and will be open until after midnight. Only on Saturday the doors open a bit later, at 6pm, and it often stays open later on Saturdays also. Because the owner is from the UK, you can of course speak English. There’s also a big chance that when you visit this bar, there are other English-speaking foreigners present.
