Artists and cultural managers across Paraguay can now apply for Emergentes 2026, a programme supporting creative talent nationwide. Now in its eighth edition, Emergentes has become one of Paraguay’s leading platforms for emerging artists. Since 2019, it has directly supported more than 1,200 creators during the early stages of their careers. Applications remain open until 29 June 2026 through the programme’s official website. The initiative is organised by Fundación Itaú Paraguay and Fundación Carlos Pusineri Scala.
Training and professional development
The call is open to artists, artistic collectives, and cultural managers aged 18 and above. Applicants must live in Paraguay and have no more than five years of professional experience. A total of 24 projects will be selected for an artistic residency in Asunción. Travel, accommodation, and meals will be fully covered by the organisers.
Participants will take part in workshops, mentoring sessions, and collaborative activities. The residency also provides opportunities to connect with artists from different disciplines and regions. The programme introduced its residency component in 2023. Since then, it has become a key space for creative exchange and professional development.
Twelve projects, financial support
At the end of the residency, 12 projects will receive competitive grants worth ₲10,000,000 (approximately US$1,637) each. The funding aims to support the development and implementation of cultural initiatives. Selected proposals may include projects related to visual arts, music, literature, performance, and cultural management. The programme encourages multidisciplinary approaches and innovative ideas. Organisers describe Emergentes as a platform that connects emerging creators with resources, training, and professional networks. Beyond funding, participants gain valuable experience and visibility within Paraguay’s cultural sector.
Expanding opportunities beyond Asunción
A major focus of Emergentes is increasing access to opportunities outside the capital. The programme has strengthened its presence in different regions of Paraguay. In recent weeks, the Emergentes team visited Pilar, Villarrica, and Ciudad del Este. These meetings provided information, guidance, and support for potential applicants. The organisers say these activities help reduce barriers for artists living outside major urban centres. They also encourage stronger connections between cultural communities throughout the country.
Over the years, Emergentes has evolved into more than a funding programme. Today, it serves as a growing network of artists, mentors, and cultural managers across Paraguay. Applications for Emergentes 2026 will remain open until 29 June. Further information and updates are available through the Emergentes‘ official website and social media accounts.
