Reinventa Programme Supports Eight Women’s Enterprises

Eight women in Paraguay have been selected to receive personalised support in their businesses as part of the Reinventa programme. The initiative is organised by the The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), with the collaboration of the Taiwan Technical Mission through the Fomipymes project, and the support of the Medalla Milagrosa Cooperative.

Last year, The Asunción Times announced that Paraguay ranked first in the indicator of the percentage of companies with female ownership.

Selected businesses for Reinventa

The newly selected enterprises are Dog Apettit, LapataPy, Tujugui and La Dominica Confitería. Also Upita Porta Bebés, Sabrosur, Orgánico Paraguay and Desde Casa were selected. The selected participants will receive tailored support according to the specific needs of their businesses.

The programme includes training in digital tools, commerce, marketing, and innovation planning. Through this approach, it seeks to foster entrepreneurial potential and enhance the competitiveness of the participating enterprises.

Gustavo Giménez, the Deputy Minister of Mipymes, explained that the programme is designed to enhance innovation and technology in Paraguay. This support is made possible through cooperation with Taiwan and focuses on skills development and access to financing to boost the international competitiveness of these businesses.

Global opportunities

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce reaffirmed its commitment to the internationalisation of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). “Global opportunities are within reach,” stated a Ministry spokesperson, highlighting that public and private sectors work together to seize them. This collaborative spirit is central to the “Reinventa” program, which aims to empower women entrepreneurs through coordinated support.

Lorenzo Barreto, President of the Medalla Milagrosa Ltda. Cooperative, underscored the cooperative’s impact, noting that it supports around 49,000 microentrepreneurs. “We are committed to the grassroots economy,” said Barreto, as he cited the cooperative’s 343,000 registered members and 68,220 active loans.

Also in attendance was Roberto Pan, Chief of the Taiwan Technical Mission. He reaffirmed Taiwan’s support and the importance of international cooperation in driving local development. Reinventa goes beyond technical assistance – it is a strategic investment in Paraguay’s entrepreneurial future.
